JAKOB HAGEN / works / teaching / bio / contact

Jascha Jakob Hagen (Bremen, 1991), M.Mus., is a postmigrant composer and sound artist specializing in electroacoustic music and 3D audio. Since the development of Alter Piano (2022), the thematic core of his work has centered on the ambivalence of the human–machine relationship, particularly questions of control, dependency, and fusion.
In 2025, he worked as composer for the dance theater piece Lotus Fight Club (premiere May 2025 at Kampnagel Hamburg, with guest performances including PACT Zollverein Essen). Previously, he presented Alter Piano at the festival richten25 in Wiesbaden. In parallel, Hagen is pursuing a doctoral project entitled Dissolution – Techniques of Boundary Dissolution in Art and Technology. His teaching engagements have taken him, among other places, to the Bern University of the Arts (HKB), Moos in Berlin, and the Bauhaus University Weimar. Since 2023, he has been working as an artistic associate at the University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar.
